Bolivia’s salt flats
Home to an ancient culture, Bolivia lies in the very heart of South America. You’ll have to head through a few countries to just to get here but it is an amazing place. On of the places you’ll want to see if you’re really aiming to get away from it are the marvelous Bolivian Salt Flats. These remote lands shimmer brightly in the heat. They are the world’s largest. In addition to the flats, you can find lots of small villages that are happy to welcome the intrepid traveler. This is one place that you’ll long remember.
Faroe islands
Lying off the shore of Denmark in the middle of one of the most remote parts of the North Atlantic, the Faroes can take some doing just to land here. But once you’re on land, you’ll be enchanted at every turn. These are hearty islands covered in magnificent colors. Admire the emerald green lawns that are dotted with wild flowers. The steep cliffs have shades of grey and soft browns that make the perfect selfie background. Look right off at the blue waters. Watch as puffins and whales swim right in front of you.
Stowe Vermont
Vermont is one of the least densely populated states in the country. This makes it easy for you to find a place in the state where you can be alone with your thoughts. Many parts of Vermont require a lot of effort to get there. This quaint town in Northern Vermont is one of them. Explore the charming downtown. When you’re ready, you’ll find nearby Mount Mansfield is a fabulous place to snow in the winter or hike during the region’s mild summers. It’s surrounded by a dense forest that offers time for solitary and gorgeous hikes.
Tonga
The Polynesian kingdom of Tonga kingdom has over a hundred islands to explore. This South Pacific land offers warm days and lots of sun. If you’re up to it, you can find many islands that are totally uninhabited. Most of them are lined with beautifully sandy white beaches. A great many have rarely seen coral reefs with incredible sea creatures. The interior of such islands are often covered with tropical rainforests that also have lots of birds and other creatures you’ll want to get to know in person. It will take you a plane and a boat but it is definitely worth it.
