Mosquitoes are a pain in the neck for anyone who steps out of their house during dawn and dusk. To protect yourself, you must catch them in time, or they will suck your blood and will leave an itchy bump behind. But there are very few chances you can see them during the daylight hours unless the weather is cloudy. So, the question today is, where do mosquitoes go during the daytime?

Some shocking facts about mosquitos

The very first thing you need to know is that only female mosquitoes suck blood. And your blood doesn’t give them any nutrition. They suck your blood and other animals’ blood because it’s their way to get certain nutrients required for the development of their eggs. Yes, I know it’s creepy that our blood is used to make more mosquitoes.

Once a female mosquito has sucked the blood, she takes rest for a few days while her body is developing eggs. Though mosquitoes often bite humans, female mosquitoes instead prefer to suck out blood from small animals if they’re given a choice. Male mosquitoes don’t need this kind of thing, so they don’t do risky stuff like sucking the blood of big animals. They just chill out!

Here is what mosquitos need for nutrition

If you want to know what mosquitoes eat to meet their nutritional needs. Both male and female mosquitoes primarily eat food on nectar from plants, the same way honey bees feed themselves.

Mosquitoes eat food in the evening and at dawn. The reason why they don’t go out during broad light is that the heat can quickly kill mosquitoes by making them dehydrated. Mosquitoes sleep in a dark place during the daylight to protect themselves from sunlight. Mostly inside the plants and grass. You may find them sleeping inside things made by humans like barns or natural shelters like ground holes, tree holes, and caves.

We are pretty sure you did not know many of these things.
